Yorsexual Health Clinic, Monkgate York YO31 7PB On Saturday 15th April @ 9am-12pm, and 

Yorsexual Health Clinic, The Heatherdene building, Lancaster Park Road,

Harrogate HG2 7SN On Mon 17th April 12 noon-3pm 

 

We provide a welcoming, safe space where trans and non-binary people can be their true self and access specialist sexual health and contraceptive services tailored to their needs. In this clinic you can access STI advice and testing, including HIV point of care testing (finger prick HIV test)  STI treatments, Contraception including LARC (Coil and implants), emergency contraception and cervical screening for people with a cervix who have received their invite letter from their GP or for people aged 25-64 who have missed their screening and therefore overdue.

I would like to book sexual health training and view presentations

Training

Please see up and coming training events for staff who deliver sexual health services and advice within North Yorkshire and York. Core training will be delivered in locations in York, Northallerton, Scarborough, Harrogate and Selby.

The key topics will be sexual health awareness, condom distribution scheme, sex and sexuality, Chemsex, working with vulnerable young people and sexual exploitation.

Sexual Health Basics training

This Sexual Health Basics training session is designed for those working with people who want to gain knowledge and confidence to offer support around sexual health issues.

Non-clinical professionals who are providing support, information and services in sexual health; for example: family support workers, youth workers, PSHE teachers, foster carers

Learning outcomes

  • Knowledge of up to date and accurate information to promote safer sex and contraception.
  • Healthy Relationships and Wellbeing
  • An understanding of the nature and transmission risk of STI’s (Sexually Transmitted Infections including HIV).
  • Be aware of services in the local area; where to access and signpost to local sexual health services.
  • A practical overview of sex and the law.
  • Gain an understanding of chlamydia and testing.
  • Be able to issue condoms via the condom distribution scheme and understand the requirements of the condom distribution scheme.

This training is available across York or North Yorkshire and is completely free.

LGBT+ Basic Awareness Training is a 1.5hr interactive, informative and thought-provoking workshop delivered by YorSexual Health; either Face to Face or Online.

Course objectives:

  • to gain a better understanding of LGBT+ terminology
  • to explore issues faced by the LGBT+ community
  • to gain awareness of ways we can improve our services for LGBT+ people

Following the training, you should:-

  • have a greater awareness of LGBT+ identity 
  • have more confidence when working with people who present as LGBT+ 
  • have a greater knowledge and understanding of LGBT+ issues 

This training is available for professionals across York or North Yorkshire and is completely free.

There will be an e-learning module on the website for condom distribution refresher training. This is currently in development.

Bespoke training for larger groups can be arranged as required with prior organisation.

Faculty Coil, Implant and Diploma Training:

Letter of Competence (LoC) in Subdermal Contraceptive Implant Techniques and the LoC in intrauterine Techniques - open to doctors, nurses and midwives

Training available at York, Scarborough and Harrogate

YSH offers training to gain the FSRH LoC in intrauterine techniques  and/or  the LoC  in Subdermal contraceptive implants, each as an intensive training block of approximately one week.

Training will build on your current competencies necessary to evidence the entry requirements and will support you to demonstrate that you have the evidence based knowledge, attitude and skills required to consult with a woman requesting contraception and to appropriately provide and insert intrauterine and subdermal methods and manage complications and side effects and removal (implants only).
